Mango Michelada is a fun and delicious version of the famous Mexican beer cocktail. This easy recipe brings a tropical, happy feeling all year round and you can make it in just 5 minutes!

A Mango Michelada is a popular Mexican beer-based cocktail that typically consists of light beer, lime juice, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Maggi sauce, Tajín chili powder, and mango puree or mango juice.

The drink is often served in a salt-rimmed glass with ice and garnished with a slice of lime or a slice of mango. The sweetness of the mango puree or juice complements the savory and spicy flavors of the other ingredients, making for a refreshing and flavorful drink.

Micheladas are often enjoyed as a brunch or daytime drink and are a popular choice in Mexico and some parts of the United States.

Ingredients

  • LIGHT BEER: Choose your favorite Mexican brand beer or any other light beer you prefer. I’ve made mine with Corona.
  • MANGO JUICE: This is the star of the cocktail, use your favorite brand or make your own at home if you’re lucky enough to find mangos reasonably priced.
  • FRESH MANGO: I like to garnish this mango michelada with fresh mango, it gives a nice tropical touch to the cocktail. This is totally optional, so no worries if you don’t have fresh mango at home.
  • SALTY SAUCES: There are always at least two kinds of sauces when making a Michelada recipe, one is Worcestershire sauce and the other is Jugo Maggi. Other sauces such as soy or teriyaki are also good subs. All those add a nice, umami and salty touch to the drink.
  • SPICY SAUCE: You can use Valentina salsa or your favorite hot sauce. For an extra sweet-spicy touch I recommend our homemade chamoy sauce.
  • OTHER SEASONINGS: Salt, chili powder, and lime juice. I like to use Tajín powder because it has salt already. Or you can use any chili blend you have available.

How To Make Mango Michelada Beer

In a small pitcher pour the mango juice, lime juice, salsa Maggi, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, salt, and a few drops of hot sauce. Stir nicely to combine and set aside.

Top Tip: You can make the mango mixture up to 3 days ahead and have it ready for a party, it saves lots of time!

Adding hot salsa to a small pitcher with mango juice.

Add 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 chili powder to a small plate and combine.

Place some hot salsa in a small bowl, then dip the rims of your glass first in the salsa and then in the chili powder mixture.

Next, add some ice cubes to the glass and pour the mango juice mixture, filling up to half the glass capacity. Finish filling the glass with cold beer.

Give it a gentle mix (some people prefer this drink without mixing, so is up to you). Garnish with fresh mango and enjoy!
