What is a Mango Michelada?

Mango Michelada is a version of the famous Mexican beer cocktail Michelada. In this recipe, Clamato juice is replaced by mango juice adding a nice and sweet touch to the drink.

Some well-know beer brands from Mexico sells a bottled version of mango michelada, but we think no matter how good they are, nothing is better than making your own at home. So, lets talk more about this easy cocktail mix!

The Ingredients

For this mango michelada beer cocktail we’re going to use some easy-to-find ingredients. Take a look below and adjust those you don’t have or make your own personalized recipe for you and your friends.

  • LIGHT BEER: Choose your favorite Mexican brand beer or any other light beer you prefer. I’ve made mine with Corona. Check out delish website featuring Mexican beers.
  • MANGO JUICE: This is the star of the cocktail, use your favorite brand or make your own at home if you’re lucky enough to find mangos at a reasonable price.
  • FRESH MANGO: I like to garnish this mango michelada with fresh mango, it gives a nice tropical touch to the cocktail. This is totally optional, so no worries if you don’t have fresh mango at home.
  • SALTY SAUCES: There’s always at least two kinds of sauces when making a Michelada recipe, one is Worcestershire sauce and the other is Jugo Maggi. Other sauces such as soy or teriyaki are also good subs. All those adds a nice, umami and salty touch to the drink.
  • SPICY SAUCE: There are lots of options for spicy sauce, Valentina salsa is still a favorite, but many recipes includes other types, such as Tapatío, Tamazula, Tabasco, and even Chamoy!
  • OTHER SEASONINGS: Salt, chili powder, and lime juice. I like to use Tajín powder because it has salt already. Or you can use any chili blend you have available.

Next, add some ice cubes to the glass and pour the mango juice mixture, filling up to half the glass capacity. Finish filling the glass with cold beer.
