This creamy sausage pasta is a delicious, comforting and full of flavor recipe that you can make is just 20 minutes! A super easy recipe to enjoy for dinner any weeknight.
Use any pasta you prefer to coat with a creamy sauce made with Italian sausage, bell peppers and cream cheese.
This delicious creamy sausage pasta is the perfect recipe to sneak in any kind of vegetables you want or are in season. Think of zucchini, mushrooms, pumpkin, asparagus, spinach, kale or even peas!
The ingredients needed
- PASTA: Use any type of pasta you prefer, really, even gluten-free pasta works nicely with this recipe. Or maybe you wanna try with homemade gnocchi or homemade pasta instead?
- ITALIAN SAUSAGE: Those are the star of this recipe. Flavored, delicious Italian sausage stirred until brown and lightly crispy.
- CREAM CHEESE: In order to get this creamy, amazing sauce, you need something, well, creamy. I love the flavour of cheese cream and I think is a good addition instead of the regular crema everyone uses.
- BELL PEPPERS: Diced and sautéed in the sausage flavored oil. Feel free to use any color of bell peppers you have available, or even add more veggies you might like.
- FLAVORS: Chili flakes, garlic, salt and pepper. Those are the ones I use because I like to keep it simple. Want to add your store-bought Italian seasoning? Go ahead! because this recipe is also about personal preferences.
Creamy Sausage Pasta Recipe
Place a large pot with water and salt and bring to a boil.
While you’re waiting for water to start boiling. In a large pan heat 2 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil over medium heat. Add sausage and cook, breaking with a spoon into small pieces until browned (about 7-8 minutes).
Cook pasta accordingly to the package. It can take from 8 to 12 minutes, depending on the format and brand of pasta, so adjust the times to allow it to be ready about at the same time the sauce will be.
Remove sausage from the pan. *You can start cooking pasta around this time.
Now, add bell peppers, garlic, salt and pepper to the pan. Sauté over medium-low heat until peppers are soft (5 minutes).
Return sausage to the pan with peppers and add the cheese cream. Pour in 1 cup of hot water (from cooking pasta) and stir until cheese is combined with the other ingredients. Add parmigiano and mix, then allow to simmer for 3 to 5 minutes over low heat.
Turn off heat, drain pasta and add it to the pan with the sauce. Mix thoroughly to coat well pasta with the creamy sauce. Serve immediately.
Important notes
Make sure you place the water to boil as soon as you start preparing this recipe. Then cook the pasta while you’re half way of sautéing the peppers. This will give you plenty of time to have the sauce ready a bit before your pasta is fully cooked.
Adding the pasta as soon as its cooked allow it to remain tender and juicy, because, nobody likes chewy or dry pasta, right?
I love Jamie Oliver’s guide about how to cook pasta, it’s just like the Italian way!
How To Store
Place leftovers on a container with cover. Store in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, add a splash of milk or water and mix to return the creaminess in the sauce then heat in a pan or in the microwave.

Creamy Sausage Pasta is one of my favorite pasta ever. My mom always made this for us when she needed something quick and easy to cook but still yummy. I made this earlier and I’m in love! Just like how my mom’s pasta used to taste. Thank you!
