Tostilocos are a classic Mexican street snack made with crunchy Tostitos, fresh fruit, chamoy, lime, and fun toppings, they're colorful, messy, and guaranteed to be the first thing to disappear at your next party.
¼cuptamarind Mexican candies(pulparindo or other kind)
1cupmango(diced)
1largecucumber(diced)
1cupjicama (diced)
1cupJapanese peanuts(or regular roasted peanuts)
hot salsa(as needed)
Chamoy salsa(as needed)
Tajín powder(as needed)
1lime(juice)
Instructions
Arrange the Tostitos on a large serving platter, or leave them in the individual bags if you want that classic Mexican street food look.
Scatter the chopped mango, cucumber, and jicama over the chips, making sure every bite gets a little bit of everything.
Add the Japanese peanuts, Takis, and tamarind candies.
Drizzle everything with chamoy and hot salsa, then squeeze fresh lime juice all over the top. Finish with a generous sprinkle of Tajín.
Serve immediately while the chips are still crunchy, and dig in with a fork or your hands.
Notes
You can chop the fruit and prepare all the toppings up to a day ahead. Store everything in separate airtight containers in the refrigerator until you're ready to assemble.
Tostilocos are best enjoyed as soon as they're made since the sauces soften the chips fairly quickly.
If you can't find jícama, swap it for daikon, pear, or a crisp apple for a similar fresh crunch.
Feel free to make them your own by adding ingredients like cueritos, pickled jalapeños, pickled onions, carrots, or canned corn.
