Guajillo peppers or chiles guajillo are native to Mexico.  Their heat range is 2,500 to 5,000 on the Scoville Heat Scale.

Ingredients

10 guajillo chili pepper 2 medium tomatoes 1 small onion 2 garlic clove ½ tsp cumin seed 1 tsp black peppercorn 1 Tbsp oregano salt

Step 1: Clean the guajillo peppers and slightly toast them on a griddle or comal.

"

Step 2: Place them in a container and cover them with hot water. Leave the chiles to soak for 10 minutes.

"

Step 3: Cook tomatoes in a pan with a bit of water.

"

Step 4: Place cooked tomatoes, soaked guajillo peppers, and spices on a blender and process until smooth.

"

Step 5: Add to a bowl and enjoy with chips or use the sauce to make enchiladas or flavor soups and marinate meats.
