Torrejas, also known as Mexican French Toast, is a crispy fried bread slices soaked in sweet piloncillo syrup—a classic comfort dessert with European origins.  Learn how to make it in 5 simple steps!

Step 1: Make piloncillo syrup by boiling water, piloncillo, and spices, then keep it warm. 

Step 2: Separate and beat egg whites with salt, then mix in yolks. 

Step 3: Dip bread slices in egg mixture, fry until golden, and drain on paper towels. 

Step 4: Place fried slices in the warm piloncillo syrup for 10 minutes. 

Step 5: Drizzle syrup over Torrejas and enjoy!
