Made with fresh peaches and finished with a crumbly cinnamon streusel, these bakery-style peach muffins are tender, flavorful, and incredibly easy to make.
Prepare the streusel by mixing all the streusel ingredients together with a spoon or spatula until crumbly. Refrigerate while you make the muffin batter.
Make the muffin batter
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
Fold in the peaches, reserving some for topping.
In another bowl, whisk together the milk, yogurt, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla.
Add the wet ingredients to the flour mixture and stir just until combined. Do not overmix.
Assemble and bake
Divide the batter among paper-lined muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full.
Top with the reserved peach pieces.
Sprinkle the streusel generously over each muffin, leaving some larger chunks for a bakery-style topping.
Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 5 minutes.
Reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for 13 to 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let the muffins cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Use peaches that are ripe but still firm. Very juicy peaches can make the batter too wet.
Keep the streusel cold until you're ready to use it.
Don't overmix the batter, just stir until everything comes together.
Leave some larger streusel chunks for that bakery-style look and texture.
Greek yogurt, sour cream, or heavy cream all work well in this recipe.
