2 ½
lb
watermelon
(chunks, seeds removed)
▢
8 ½
cups
water
▢
1
lime
(juice)
▢
¼
cup
brown sugar
(or your favorite sweetener)
▢
ice
(as needed)
Instructions
Add watermelon to a blender, pour two cups of water, and blend until smooth.
Strain watermelon mixture into a large pitcher.
Add lime juice and the remaining water.
Add sugar to taste mixing thoroughly to dissolve it before adding more.
Serve in glasses over crushed ice or store the pitcher in the fridge for a couple of hours before serving.
Notes
Use room temperature water so the sugar dissolves quickly and easily.
Add enough water to keep it light and refreshing, not thick like a smoothie.
I like my agua fresca super smooth, so I always strain it, but this is optional.
If making ahead, skip the ice in the pitcher and refrigerate instead. Add ice only when serving.
You can skip the sugar completely if your watermelon is sweet enough.
Garnish with diced watermelon, lime slices, or fresh mint if you want it a little extra pretty.
Store in the fridge for up to 3 days.
