Mexican Bolillos Recipe

– 3 ½ cups bread flour  – 2 tsp active dry yeast – 2 Tbsp vegetable oil – 1 ¼ cups water – 1 ½ tsp salt – 1 tsp sugar

Step 1: Combine flour, yeast, sugar, salt, oil, and water in a bowl. Rest for 15 minutes.

Step 2: Knead the dough until nicely smooth and soft. Make a ball and allow to proof for 1-2 hours.

Step 3: Just until has doubled in size.

Step 4: Divide the dough in 6 pieces and for balls.

Step 4: With each ball, form a bolillo stretching the edges.


Step 4: Place the pieces in a baking tray and proof until doubled in size.

Step 4: Bake in a preheated oven at 450°C (230°C) for 18-20 minutes or until nicely golden.
