Pineapple agua fresca
Agua de piña (pineapple water) is a mexican cold beverage that is rich of flavour, nutritious and perfect to beat the high temperatures in summer. Make it sugar-free or use any sweetener you prefer.
(peeled and cut into chunks)
(2 L) lt water
(sugar, honey, stevia, etc.)
Prepare the pineapple juice by making it with a fruit juicer or use a blender if you want to take advantage of all the properties of the fruit and then strain the mixture with a fine sieve.
Pour the pineapple juice in a large pitcher, add 9 cups (about 2 L) of water and the lime juice
Add your favorite sweetener, it can be white sugar, cane sugar, stevia, monkfruit, etc. Mix until the sugar dissolves, then taste and adjust sugar to your liking.
Put the pitcher in the refrigerator and let cool for at least two hours.
Right before serving, add ice to the pitcher or to the glasses and serve immediately.
Make sure the ingredients are at room temperature and this includes water, if the water or pineapple is cold dissolving the sugar will be more complicated.
