Use fresh pumpkin cut into chunks and boiled until tender with cinnamon and anise star.

Mix together masa harina, pumpkin puree, brown sugar, melted butter, spices and baking powder.

Add chopped pecans and mix to combine.
Spread about 1/3 cup of pumpkin tamales dough onto the middle of a corn husk.
Fold the husk closing both sides, then fold the pointy edge towards the center.
Place tamales in a steamer standing with the open side up, and steam for about 90 minutes checking occasionally and adding more water when is needed.
