Cheese & Peppers Tamales

RECIPE

You'll need roasted poblano peppers. Peeled and cut into strips.

Substitute poblano peppers with: Green bell peppers or Anaheim.

Cheese & Salsa

Melty cheese like Mozzarella or Monterey Jack. And your favorite Mexican salsa, like salsa molcajete!

Corn husks

Soaked in hot water to make them soft. Or sub with parchment paper.

The flavor:

Pork Lard

2/3 cup of pork lard to give an amazing taste! Or use your fav oil.

Masa

Made with masa harina + water.

The dough

2 1/2 cups masa harina + 2 1/2 cups water + 2/3 cup lard + 1 tsp baking powder + 1/2 tsp baking soda + salt to taste.

Now:

Make tamales

Spread dough in corn husks, add fillings.

Next:

Wrap

Fold the right side of the corn husk to the center.

Then:

And secure. Repeat until all dough and fillings are gone.

Steam

For 1 hour and 15 minutes.
